They were “pleased to consider” my application but “sorry to report that we are not able to admit you at this time.” First rejection from one of my safety schools. a0r1w0p5

I don't think this institution is worth staying the wait-list, being lower mid-tier. Will not be accepting if offered.

Email from grad coordinator (no funding info). Current undergrad. Interviewed last week with POI. Related major.

Email from the admission committee said: I am on a "Hold" group with other competitive candidates. If anyone they decided to admit doesn't accept their offer, they might extend one offer to me. But I won't be attending this university.

They called but I missed it. Then an email came with an offer letter. One of my safety schools.

Email said: Congratulations! We are delighted to share with you the news that the Admissions Committee of the Department of Sociology is recommending you for our Ph.D. Program at the University of California, Irvine. We are incredibly impressed with your strong credentials! Admission is contingent on approval from the Dean of Social Sciences and the Dean of the Graduate Division. Still, it is certainly our hope that you will join our incoming cohort in the Fall of 2020. Acceptances: 4, Rejections: 0, Pending: 13

Same as others; got an email asking for official transcripts now that I have been accepted. International student with a non-American undergraduate degree. No masters.

Full tuition, insurance and $14,700 stipend for the 9 month academic year. They "expect" to be able to continue the funding in subsequent years.

Got rejected, it really sucks. I thought I would definitely get in. They said, " This decision should not be viewed as an evaluation of your acceptability as a graduate student, but rather as an indication of the degree of competition in your department". I don't even know what that means. First rejection, 5 more schools to go. Hopefully, I get accepted into at least one. This was one of my safety schools.
