I'm sure I'll get an email any minute, but I checked the platform and there it was. Not even waitlisted this year, despite a 1st class honours. Great. Ok. Don't know what I'll do with my life now.

Anyone have any advice re NYU? What do you think of the program? (I was rejected from Iowa, JHU, and Brown, and still waiting on two schools.)

So happy!

This is my dream school, so praying to get in from the waitlist soon.

I was the one who posted a fiction rejection for UVic. The rejection email seemed to be the same one the university uses for every program, with no details on number of applicants. Portal was updated with the decision. Haven't seen anything for Guelph other than one poetry acceptance, and also waiting for fiction. Last year they let me know Mar 29.

Accepted to the optional-residency program today! I applied in Fiction/Nonfiction.

Has anyone heard from Brown re: their digital language arts MFA? I know fiction and poetry applicants have gotten emails, but I haven't heard a peep about digital language arts.

Accepted but currently on waitlist for funding. If y'all aren't planning on attending please decline so maybe I can get some moneys :))

To offer a counterpoint: if you don't have funding, this means you wouldn't be teaching. For me, the teaching experience is part of the whole package, and if you want to work in academia at all later it will be important. Additionally, a lot of professors recommend doing something between undergrad and graduate school. While you're probably qualified and ready to go, the time between the two will give you world experience and, without looking for them, things to write about. I won't recommend the job without knowing what it is, but if you're not funded and coming straight out of undergrad, I would say go live for a year or two and apply again. Your dream experience probably includes funding, so don't settle for a compromised version of your dream.

Poster below about the job/program decision: TAKE THE JOB!! Taking the job will allow you to live for a while, save some money, continue writing, and apply again to fully funded programs. MFAs will be around for a while, but that corporate job will find someone else. The great thing about writing is that it doesn't cost a dime (other than a pencil and paper or whatever), and great programs recognize that. I hope it all works out for you!

Simple, sweet email.

I'm on the wait list & rejected by everywhere else... was anyone accepted and thinking of not going? If this isn't the year for me then it isn't the year for me but god I'd love to get in.

To the poster asking about Columbia, I was accepted there with funding, and also Michener and UC Irvine, was waitlisted at IWW, rejected at Brown and still waiting to hear from one more.

Signed with a major lit agent yesterday, rejected from yet another program today (with no note!) These programs clearly need to reconsider their criteria. You can teach fancy prose, but you can't teach appeal. 0a/1w/6r/6p

To the person asking about Columbia: I also got in there and with pretty good funding (as far as Columbia goes), and I've been rejected from Michener, Brown, and Iowa. I was waitlisted at one other program of a similar caliber to those 3. I think it's all a bit random, but Columbia is probably on the easier side to get into just considering that it's so much bigger than many other programs. But I think it's still quite competitive.

First Acceptance. Telling my amazing undergrad professors I got in was the highpoint of my day! 1a/3r/0w/4p

With funding!!!
