Not surprised at this point. Really I was just glad to finally get this letter so I could commit to the school I've decided to go to.

Not happy. Penn only allows you to apply to one program per school within the University even if your intended research has an interdisciplinary focus. I was deciding between Art History and Anthro. and had eventually decided to apply to Anthro., but the Grad Chair of Art History encouraged me to apply to her department instead because I had taken courses with professors in the department and one was writing my recommendation. Last week I got an unofficial rejection saying that they didn't think I was a good match considering my research interests. Now we see how well that turned out listening to the Grad Chair. Moral of the story: Go with your gut.

The Admissions Committee of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Arts and Sciences is pleased to tell you that you have been awarded a five year fellowship to the Department of Economics PhD program. Upon approval from the Dean, you will receive a notice that your official letter is posted on your CollegeNet application including full details of your fellowship. Full fellowships comprise of a 10 month stipend, payment of tuition, general fee and health insurance.

Received a fully funded offer from them for 5 years. I already rejected the offering. They don't specify how much the funding is, and the visit day will be on March 27.

Relax. If you are in need of contacting them, just do so. You can either call them or send them an email. Rest assured: they will not reject you just because you contact them to ask information.

TBP ; That's exactly what I want to say. UPenn was my dream school since I started to think about Econ phd program, so I was thinking that I definitely would take their offer over the other offer on the same level if I could get any. Now, I doubt their capacity. Maybe it is just that I was not able to get the offer(if the admission posts are legit, and most other admitted students didn't post their results on gc!). I decided to take my current offer ;)

This only confirms how much they care about grad students...

TTPB: interesting - did not think of that. I haven’t tried contacting the department regarding my status, but I did receive positive feedback from my top two POIs. That could be a reason.

TTPB: Have you tried getting in touch with the department? I wonder if all the ones that they sent out were directed admits to single labs, and they are just waiting on sending out ones that got matched with more than one lab.
