Received email from professor I had been in contact with letting me know I had not been accepted. Note that this does not preclude that others might be waitlisted.

Have been very upset already when I knew I was not invited to the interview, so pretty calm when I read this update from the application website. MIT is hard anyway. Formal rejection letter will be sent out by March 9.

Any ideas on how to prepare for the technical aspect of the interview?

Sort of expected. I had an interview on Jan 17. The POI said that another professor is retiring next year so he is taking his students but was interviewing me for the grad committee. They only have 2 people in reactor physics (1 of them is retiring). High grad and undergrad GPA, 8 journal publications in strong journals (3 first author), 7 conf papers and abstracts, h-index: 6, and several independent projects with nearly $700k in revenue.

This message on website: Feb. 3 update: Our admissions committee has extended interview invitations to everyone whom we anticipate interviewing, and we have now received confirmation of receipt from all of them. We will most likely admit from this pool of applicants, but are not sending out final admissions decisions to the rest of the applicants in case the committee decides to extend interview invitations to a few more applicants. We expect to email final notifications to those who were not interviewed by March 9.

It seems like MIT EECS, in previous years (not sure about F19), have often sent out acceptance emails in batches. Are they not doing that anymore? :( Also, did anyone get offers in computational biology (perhaps from profs. DG or MK)?

Can’t count the number of times I’ve pinched myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. Physics major from a CSU with 3.71 cumulative GPA and 3.9 major GPA. 3 extremely strong letters of recommendation. 2 summers worth of research experience with a paper pending. I was the poster below who received an interview email on Jan. 15.

I got my first interview assignment on Dec 5. Followed by a minor assignment on Dec 21. I haven't heard anything since. Applied to the NCB group. Anybody here with a similar situation.

Though frustrated, the application process is memorable and is kind of a soul-searching journey. still worth it.

No interview. 1 first author conference paper, 2 second author conference papers under review. Area: Circuit Design

Have all acceptance emails gone out? And is the portal not updated? Its currently 10am EST.

Emailed POI, all acceptances were sent last night. If you didn't get one you're either waitlisted or rejected unfortunately :( sad times
