Email from Brady Udall. Fangirling so hard.

Of all days, this had to happen on Pi day.

Hey, is anybody still waiting on Portland? Does anyone know if they've stopped accepting fiction writers? I saw that a few people were accepted and one person was wait listed... just wondering/needing a voice of comfort. Thanks!

To the others rejected from Boise, fret not! I heard only 2 fiction applicants were accepted this year. Pretty steep odds there. Keep on keeping on!

In researching this program, I really fell head over heals. Would highly recommend for your consideration. Though: "able to offer places to only 2% of those applying," per rejection email.

It's not by chance Stanford chose Pi day to send Stegner rejections. Pi is an irrational number, and so was my decision to blow $$ on a three month wait for a form rejection. The argument that programs can't send out individualized emails--even if it's only a sentence or two, because volume of applicants is absurd. We need to expect more from programs. When Stanford calls me, requesting a reading of my first book, I will make them wait 12 weeks for a response before sending them a generic form rejection. I'm not bitter; I'm contemptuous.

Not surprised. I didn't do the TA application. Also, not as disappointed. I guess.

Received an email from David Bosworth. 3% of initial applicants were accepted, an additional 7% are on an unranked waitlist. Hoping to get in, as this is the only school I applied to!

Waitlisted. My first choice. So hoping others accepted will chose other schools they're accepted at...

Wholly unexpected, but no word on funding, alas. It's far from guaranteed in this program. Guess I'll have to wait until Monday to call. They want an answer within two weeks. Yipes. But cool, too. Great faculty and Miami sounds like a fascinating city.
