Has anyone heard anything from American University's anthro department? I was told by their admissions director to expect notifications to go out almost 3 weeks ago. Are they always slow?

@March 10 poster, only 7 people were accepted. I would highly suggest emailing me them and asking for a detailed explanation. Also @ other people saying Berkely is bad: can you tell us why from your own personal experience and not from the dozens of various students involved in the program? Funding, personal lives, motivation and etc all go into your OWN experience and view of the department. Berkeley might be a terrible or amazing experience, but you won't know because you will never experience it. You're judging it based on hearsay just as they newly admitted students are :).

Haven't received any notification and there's been 2 acceptances posted. Has anyone actually received a rejection? Perhaps they will send rejections Monday?

Did anyone get accepted to the Archaeology PhD program besides the one person from February? The waiting was driving me crazy so glad to just know the decision. I was interested in Berkeley for its interdisciplinary approach but I think in the end that there wasn't a particular person in the department who was the right fit for the research I was looking to do so I'm ok with it. Curious what other people's research was focused on and their acceptance rate this year. I have a Masters from UCL, 5+ years of research. I've received feedback that my application was very strong from other professors so I would love some feedback from Berkeley so I can see where I can improve, has anyone been able to get feedback on their applications? That said, I have had many in the field try to steer me away from the program while I was waiting for the decision so I am curious to know why as I keep hearing half veiled negativities. Anyway, congrats to those who did get in!

To the poster directly below: Berkeley doesn't have an MA in anthropology, so..? How are you accepted to that?

I won't complain much about Berkeley because she seems like my second home since my dearest mom Aihwa Ong is working here. Please judge yourself first before you judge my Berkeley.

Love all the people on here who say such bad/negative things about Berkeley after they are rejected. No school is perfect but your bias is so obvious.

Not too disappointed, since I am doing an MA at Berkeley and know this program via my peers. I don't hear the greatest things about students' experiences, yet somehow its name still carries so much prestige. Had a meeting with the program's chair back in November and it was...very dull.

Other USF posters, did your graduate admissions status portal change to accepted or stay with your application being referred to program? Thanks!
