I am an American who was admitted to York University ( Canadian school). Quite surprised since I was told how they only took one international student a year. I received an email from the chair. A few hours later I received an automated message from the admission's system.

On behalf of the Department of Physics, I am writing to inform you on the status of your application for admission to New York University's Graduate School of Arts and Science. It is the policy of the Graduate School to offer admission to outstanding doctoral students only if they are fully funded. Such funding comes from the Graduate School's MacCracken Fellowship Program, offered to a limited number of prospective students selected by the department. The department regards you as an outstanding potential candidate for admission and we have placed you on our wait list for admission. However, since we have only a limited number of full-funding offers that we may make, we are not yet able to make a final decision on your application. We hope to get a better sense of the resources available to us, and thus be able to determine whether we might be able to offer you admission with funding, by April 15.

TTPB Where did you hear that NYU will make decisions on March 9? I was assuming I got rejected because I have not heard back yet. Good luck!

I've heard nothing from them. I just called and my application is still in review. I have other offers, and to me, it's not a good sign not hearing anything this far after the application.

Anyone else still waiting to hear back from NYU? I interviewed during the second weekend. I know they interviewed a good chunk of people and some have already been accepted, just wondering if I'm waitlisted or denied. I emailed the program a few weeks ago and didn't receive a reply.

Received and accepted offer of acceptance for their January 2020 online cohort. I submitted the application a few days before the end of their priority deadline. Afterwards, they send a prerequisite form via email and it took about a week and a half to hear back from that point. Very excited!
