Someone mentioned the acceptance rate was 12%. Was this really communicated by the department? And is it the MDS program?

For someone who asked about the UBC MDS admission, I am waiting too. They have apparently started sending out offers and will continue to do so over the next couple of weeks

Did anyone hear about the admission results of Master in Data Science (MDS) program from UBC? No communication yet !

Just received an email saying they have made their decisions and that I have been wait listed. I should receive a decision by end of May. People who have already received offers, when is the deadline for you to accept it? And for people who are going to decline it could you please reject it as soon as possible. Would greatly help people like us!

Is there anyone else who have not heard from the admissions office yet? And anyone who got an interview?

to the poster below. Sorry! offers went out by Email. He said they have received huge number of applications for this program. There is no certain date for second round. I think better you directly talk to him on 416-979-5000 ext. 3693. I am also desperately waiting for revert. Its frustrating.

To the poster below, offers went out by mail and not email? Also, does the 1% comment apply to all applicants or just internationals?

I had telephonic conversation with Igor Rosic, Admission Secretary. They said the first round of selection is completed. Mail sent to those who were selected. Those who dint hear anything have to wait untill the second round. They only select few international applicants. So dont wait further. only 1 % chances for further update.

Has anyone heard from the MSDS program under department of statistics? Any acceptance, or reject? Submitted on early February.

I had to edit the below poster, I wrote earlier. 4-6 weeks after 1st April. Basic Programming shouldn't be a pre-requisite. Data Science is a relatively new field, and the need for Data Scientists is in every industry. If one hasn't taken any programming course in Bachelors, there should be 3 semesters of the UBC Data Science program. The 1st Semester should be brushing up on Python and R, even if one has taken it. This way more qualified people can apply, who might not have the pre-requisite.

To the poster below, they should email the decision in 4-6 weeks. According to the Webinar that's available on Youtube, they said they will start evaluating in the last week of March. Considering there are 50 seats, they are going to be looking at individuals with a higher score in Personal Profile, with some basic programming, although CS and Statistics Majors are not their target. I personally think if one is targeting non CS and Statistics majors, basic programming should not be a part of the course, but instead it should be offered in an extra semester.

I got a mail saying rejected but Albert shows regular decision pending. Did other people get an explicit wait-list email? What does it mean for me?

To the post below, I emailed NYU and they told me there is no time-frame that candidates on waitlisted will be notified of final decision.

Did anyone hear from them about when they are releasing the results? There has been no communication from their side and the portal is stuck at No decision. Very frustrating.

To the poster below, could you share your profile? Also, did you apply to the MS in Computer Science program or the new MS in Data Science (Data Science initiative)?
