I mailed the grad office a week ago. The mail copy is below. …........…................................................. We are hoping to send decisions out somewhere between mid to late February. There will be no interviews.

I already checked with the admission office. Master applicants won't get interviews; moreover, we all receive the decision anytime from now. Best of luck to all applicants!

Totally unexpected. No interview, no publications. Perfect GPA good SoP (I guess?) good RLs, 1 year research experience.

TTPB: I did not mean a second round interview. Another admissions committee for the entire department comes together and reviews applications from each research division.

TTPB: I had an interview last week as well. They didn't tell me about a potential second round of interview. But they did mention it would take 2-3 weeks to make the decision and it will only come out before the end of this month.

TTPB: 3 weeks from last week is March 1. Their website says that they will let everyone know by March 1. Not too late- deadline to accept is April 15 for almost every school. I was told that they received a 50% increase in applications because of COVID. That means they got 1500+ applications. This is how it was explained to be: MIT has research divisions, they have an admissions committee within the division. They decide on who they want to admit. The division brings that to the admissions committee for the whole department, they decide who gets in and funding, then it goes to the Physics department head to get signed off on. My interviewer also said that it's working different this year because of Covid and how many applications they got and that they have to do everything virtually.

TTPB: 3 weeks? Isn't that too late? They usually announce the results around this time of year. Is it because of the pandemic?

TTPB: I think the person who posted their acceptance is fake... I had an interview last week and was told that they have to go through a second review with the entire admissions committee and then to the department head. I was told it would be 3 weeks for a decision.

Ttpb: I didn't get any interview invite. Haven't heard of anyone getting them either. May just be direct acceptances/rejections. *Fingers crossed*

TTPB: how do you find out you are accpeted by mit CEE?

TTPB: I'm organic track and got my official acceptance letter on Jan 26th

Just got a call while at work. Extremely excited and surprised given the credentials of some of the applicants! I hope everyone gets into a good program that they see themselves working in! 3.86 overall GPA, no GRE, 2 years of undergrad research, currently working in biotech

just received an email about an hour ago with funding info to be sent soon. this was very out of the blue! MIT was certainly my reach school, and I am so thrilled that I will be attending this very fine institution!

I am organic and haven't heard anything either! Hoping that is a good thing... starting to think it isn't though haha :(
