Voicemail from EJ Levy with invitation to call back with any questions I may have about the program. Presumably will have to wait to hear about funding. Even if funding isn't enough for me to attend, I'm very honored by the acceptance.

at the same time i was in class being informed of a classmate's suicide, i got this rejection email. it simultaneously made me feel better (me worrying about whether i get into grad school is so laughably inconsequential considering) and worse (because it still fucking sucks anyway). i walked around in the cold for a half hour or so, then had a breakdown over pita chips. i know no one cares but i had to let it out somewhere. thanks for reading, yeet

Email from Marnie Leonard. No mention of rank but did mention it could take about six weeks and requested patience.

Even if I eventually get in I doubt I'll end up with their limited funding, but I still count this as a win

Same... 50% offer, I wonder if funds trickle down if fellowship offers are declined?

Received funding email from NYU -- 50%

Initial phone call from Stan Rifkin was attempted on Friday 3/1. He left a message saying the committee was reading my sample and were really enjoying it, and that he wanted to talk about my application on Monday. This left me to languish all weekend, reveling and agonizing about it in equal measure. I applied with both fiction and nonfiction, and was told that Tom Grimes and Debra Monroe loved my writing in particular. Craziness—I kept seeing everyone here get these sort of compliments and thought it’d never happen for me. I’m supposed to hear about assistantships on March 12th! If I get that/the equivalent of full funding, I really want to go! 3a/0w/5r/12p

Requested application status via email last Friday and received a pleasant and kind (but brief) response this morning.

:) another email to follow
