Informal email notifying me of a conditional offer to DPhil. No mention of funding yet.

Received the offer at 2:15 PM GMT

I was really looking forward to it, but oh well! Got into Cambridge, so I'm excited to start there next year.

I'm the guy who wrote the long note. Firstly, the person accepted into the Msc for Hebrew, congratulations! I'm sure your time at Oxford will be amazing. I don't really have an interest in doing a PHD, but I'm sure I can find another masters programme which will accept me. Or I'll work in a closely related area until I apply to Oxford next year again. Secondly, the person who was rejected last year but got in this year, congratulations! I honestly never thought about the idea of re-applying seriously until I read this. This is certainly within the realm of possibility. Thank you all for your support and enjoy your time at Oxford. You're a selected few who have been rewarded for your hard work with this amazing opportunity, make the most out of it.

to the History DPhil offer holder who posted on 16/3, did your email say anything about when funding decisions would be announced?

Hello to the person that said they were wait listed in comparative social policy! Can you perhaps tell me how you found out you where wait listed? Did you call? Did they send you an email?

Hi poster below - yes I was accepted for the MSc (but for Hebrew, not Arabic, which I assume is considerably less competitive). That really sucks that you have all that experience and obvious passion. Who knows! I hope that you are successful regardless - perhaps try straight for a PHD in the U.S? I'm sure your passion for MMES will continue unabated and with your credentials you will get snapped up :)

Hello Modern Middle Eastern Studies person who wrote the long note. I just wanted to tell you that I was rejected last year (not even interviewed) and accepted this year (in another field of study, but still). I thought my chances where gone but here I am. So reapplying is definitely an option for you. Yes I know how crushing it is to get the bad news and that you may feel like giving up now. But the feeling of ambition comes back soon. I used the year to find a high end internship with a big name and boom I was taken. I wish you the best of luck! Cheers!

Rejection is not a termination to my passion in Middle East affairs. One day I will reach what I have hoped for in other ways. Best of luck for every one who is at similar position as I am now and who is able to have a wonderful start at Oxford now. JL

Offer received with condition of attaining a 2:1 and providing sufficient evidence of ability to pay fees. Now the waiting to see if funding comes allowing me to actually accept the offer in begins!

Thank you for your kind words previous poster in my programme, I am the one who wrote the long message before. Whenever a semester of university studies would end, I would finance my own studies in the Middle East during vacation time. I also lived in Jordan for 5 months studying Arabic there. I can only speculate as to why I wasn't accepted, I'm sure they have their reasons. Clearly I'm biased and perhaps my view of my credentials is not in line with their view. We'll see what happens, I have some attractive alternatives which could potentially increase my chances of getting accepted to this programme in the future. Or I'll apply to other universities. Were you accepted? Thank you

To the person below who got rejected for the MPhil in MMES: your outlook on life is great - I'm sure you will go far and be very happy :) [I have no idea on what basis they decide not to accept excellent candidates such as yourself, but maybe because it's MMES, they want people who have demonstrated a strong MMES interest with travel, work etc? So (completely assuming you haven't already) maybe if you spend extensive time in the region this will ensure an acceptance if you decide to give it another go? There are lots of orgs you can volunteer with etc] All the best.

Hey guys, I just got an Email from the UAS Disability service (I am a disabled applicant) congratulating me on securing an offer. However, I did not receive any Email or anything regarding my application yet. Does this mean that I have been 100% accepted? Or could this be a cruel mistake? I am really worried because I am not a really strong applicant and didnt think that I would stand a chance of getting in. Could someone shed light on this? Maybe other students in my position? Have you received this prior to getting an offer? Or even prior to getting a rejection?? Many thanks in advance!!
