To the people invited to the graduate program information session: what was covered in this session? Does an invite to the info session mean an admit?

22,000 Merit Based Scholarship

The Economics Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and in a typical year we would have been very excited to recommend to the School of Arts and Sciences Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania to admit you to our Ph.D. program and offer you funding. However, due to the financial impact of the Covid pandemic, we are not authorized by the School to admit anyone with funding from the School this year. We do, however, expect to assemble a very strong incoming class consisting of individuals who will have outside funding initially and the Department will use its internal funds to support most students starting in their second or third year in the program. To help us plan, could you please answer the following two questions: 1. Do you have or expect to receive any outside funding that can be used to fund one or more years in the Penn Ph.D. program (both tuition and living expenses)? Could you please provide any details about this funding, e.g., source, amount, duration, etc. 2. Given our inability to fund you early on in the program, are you still interested in potentially joining our program or have other alternatives that would dominate UPenn given the unfortunate circumstances?

I received an email saying the first 20 offers were sent. They are looking at funding to see if they can make more offers.

Got an email saying they are not going to accept me with funding. This is their policy for this year. Asking if I have any external funding. Not sure if this is an acceptance/email sent to all candidates.

Anyone else not heard from Penn? I applied to the MA (app was due Dec 15th) and haven't heard a thing

I also got the email from Penn Engineering Admissions inviting me to attend the graduate program information session. Don't know what it is tho.

[Ignore the WAITLIST] Has UPenn forgotten that I applied? It's been almost 3 months since I applied and still no status update :( I don't see any results in here as well :( Any idea what's happening?
