7th rejection

TTPB: I decide to give up their admission offer, since there is no funding for me. I am not sure wether other guys get funded or not. I once emailed the department, the professor told me that they typically give TAs to students they are familiar with, that is to say, Phd students in goddamn structures will have to cover their fees for at least one semester, you have to take risks and there's no guarantees. It's not worthy. I have to turn to another fair school, not top, but with a nice professor who is willing to fund me. Anyway, good luck.

TTPB: I got into the Sustainable Systems program. My understanding is they don't really send out financial offers, unless a professor likes your application and happens to contact you (which seems rare if you don't reach out). I think the only way is to reach out to professors directly. It seems that the only way to get a TAship is to apply once you get to campus. It's a bit ridiculous that they don't have anything in place really. I've accepted my offer from UT Mechanical instead, who give actual funding offers. Hope this helps.

Regarding Civil Engineering: Ph.D. or M.S. admits - Have any of you received funding (Fellowship/TA/GRA) offers from any of the faculty or department yet? I'm curious if either I'm just not lucky enough for funding, or if we're all still waiting to hear back? I know they've extended the decision deadline for Ph.D. to May 15th.

TTPB: Yes. First the chair of the department sent me a recommendation letter that said that they had recommended me for the program, and that the final decision was going to be made by the GPS in the coming weeks. Two days later I got the offer of admission. Previous to that my tutor had told he had recommended my application to the civil eng. department, and prior to that I had an interview with my prospect tutor to see if I was interested in the research he was conducting and if I could fit in his team. And I think that was pretty much it. It was pretty quick since the first contact, I think it was just a matter of a month.

Applied for Ph.d. Geotechnical Engineering Encouraged to apply to the school by faculty member. Interviewed by e-mail. 3 pubs. I don't understand what else did they look for, though!!! So late so disappointing. Never should apply for it in the first place

M.Eng. Thesis option. International Student. I just received the letter of acceptance, and they also offered me some type of financial aid. I accepted the offer.

TTPB: can you describe what do you mean by pre-acceptance? When did you had your interview?

I am the poster from March 26, when I got the pre-acceptance on the civil grad website. Semester is starting in September 2020, but the will keep us updated if anything changes, due to COVID-19. 2 peer-reviewed articles, 2 conference papers and previous contact with university and supervisor. Good luck everyone, we will get through this.
