Happy to receive admission to UT Austin for PhD in Structural Engineering. The admission letter didn't mention the degree I was admitted. It just mentioned "advanced program". Later clarified it from the Graduate Admission Advisor for Structural Engineering that I have been admitted for PhD. However, no information on funding. The advisor replied that funding will be given to students whom they know about and availability of funds. It will be decided by individual faculty when it is available. Contacted the professors, but haven't received replies. A student studying there also said that even PhD students are not funded while they join but they will eventually find it once arriving on the campus. I will take the risk of joining without funding and find it once I enrol in the program. | ||||

Just happened to check the website - not even an email. Going to a higher ranked program, so not upset, but I have to say I find it so unprofessional that some schools can't be bothered to send out rejections in a timely manner. We all paid application fees after all, it isn't asking too much. It's 4/16 and now with Texas off the list I still have not formally heard from three other programs. Just disrespectful. If you charge a fee, you owe applicants a timely decision. | ||||

I got the notice that I'd been rejected at 1AM the night after the deadline for admitted students to select their program. I don't know if that means I was on a waitlist or if Texas waited that long to inform all rejected applicants. | ||||
