Got email thanking me for interviewing and saying that decisions will be released by the 4th

TTPB: DId you guys receive a new acceptance on 27th (i.e., not accepted on 16th Feb) or a re-confirmation (official communique) of the 16th Feb acceptance?

Hi everybody. One important point is that there is a chain when someone rejects an offer. Say that person A is admitted both at MIT and Harvard. When A rejects Harvard offer, person B who is on the waiting list of Harvard is picked up. As B is now accepted in Harvard, he rejects his Stanford offer. This chain can potentially continue to very low ranking universities. Therefore, it is genuinely helpful if those who are admitted at high ranking universities decline their less preferred offers. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone in the rest of the admissions process.

TTTP: Congrats!. At what time did you get the notification. Which specialization/groups did you apply to?

It was a long shot. Strong recommendations. Work and Intern experience in field. Email indicated they had a record number of applicants.

8% acceptance rate shook me! I knew back on Monday when everyone got the admits that I was gonna get rejected. Still held on to some hope. I'd rather apply another season when COVID's over and the sky is blue again!

Notified in an email from a professor I interviewed with.

Haven't recieved any updates for my application. Are all Ph.D decisions out?

Strong research background. Already accepted an offer at another top 5 program.

The email said: "I'm writing to let you know that we need more time: the decision on your case has not yet been made. We are very sorry for the delay." I was expecting a rejection since I didn't get an interview invite, so this is a pleasant surprise. It seems like they're waiting for the current round of interviews before deciding if they need to talk to more candidates.

For all of you who got rejected, do you think that getting rejected by SES would hurt our chances of getting in the TPP program? Also, if you got admitted TPP would you accept their offer?

Tbh I was expecting this cuz I am an undergrad student with no master's degree. While application reviews are continuing, at this point I am able to share a partial update on your application status. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to the SES doctoral program for the 2021/2022 academic year. Please note that, per your request in the SES application, your application is also part of the Technology and Policy Program applicant pool, whose reviews are still in process. TPP admissions decisions are expected around 15 March. As you might expect, resources constrain the number of qualified applicants that we can accept, and I am sorry that we were unable to offer you a place in the SES PhD program. Thank you again for your interest in IDSS's academic programs
