application requires additional review --> denied

Emailed program assistant then 2 days later I got an email to check my portal

Never notified about my status on my application. I checked the application website to see if I could find out more information. I saw a status update telling my that I was not admitted into the program but was reffered and accepted into MAPSS with a 1/3rd tuition funding. Unsure on whether Ill accept due to the cost of living in Chicago and tuition.

The best fit faculty are on sabbatical. Wasn't meant to be.

Have not yet received any information about funding, and haven't gotten any snail mail from the school.

As an applicant, I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in applied social science; 3.5 GPA in both degrees. GRE: 168v; 150q; 5.0aw. 18 months of ethnographic research experience and 8+ years international work experience in my geographic area of research. I was never asked to interview. On March 10th, I received an email to check the portal and I found a polite, generic rejection letter. No information about or referral to the stand-alone Master's degree in anthropology in the department.

I'm disappointed but that's a risk we all have to take! Congrats to those getting to start PhD programs this Fall. Go get ‘em 🤎

Haven't previously studies Anthropology (BS and MS in related subjects). It was obvious I was going to be rejected after they distributed notifications for their visit weekend back in January.

Typical rejection letter. I've been in close contact with my potential adviser for the past few years so this one was a hard one to hear.
