I received the exact same email (like what is posted below) from the head of the department.

April is so far away :/

Waitlisted. Got an email from POI: I hope you're keeping well and safe. The Admissions Committee of the Department of Linguistics was very impressed with your application to our program and we believe you have the qualifications to succeed in our program. We have received a high number of competitive applicants this year and we are unable to admit all qualified applicants. At this point we have placed you on a waitlist for admission to our Ph.D. program. Past experience suggests that we will not be in a position to admit applicants from the waitlist until April. We would be grateful if you could keep us updated about your other offers, or let us know if at some point you are no longer interested in receiving an offer of admission from Toronto.

Got an email from the department which says they usually won't admit waitlisted people until April

TTPB: I honestly don't have much information - an admin person emailed me saying I'm on the waitlist and they'll let me know if anything changes. Unclear how many people are on the waitlist and how many spots they have.

Could you share some information about the waitlist? I was not aware they had a waitlist and instead conducted admissions in rounds.

I'm not sure if you meant me, but my GPA is not amazing, currently 3.74 (in my semester of undergrad rn at UofT). I have one publication and three or four conference presentations. there was no interview. I did my undergraduate degree at UofT and I'm canadian.

To the admitted app licanyt to master's program: Congratulations!! Did you have an interview? May I ask what your GPA was and if you had any publications if you don't mind?

Any news on University of Toronto's decisions?

Received an email from my POI letting me know that I will not be offered a position in the program this year. She wanted to personally let me know this as she said she had really enjoyed our prior conversation. Disappointed to hear I got rejected but thought it was very nice of her to send me a personal email. Good luck to all other applicants!

Thank you! I'm from the US and applied on November 15. No interview; just got the email from a potential advisor on Friday. It's also the flex-time PhD.

TTPB: Re: Social Justice PhD. Congratulations on your acceptance. Please share if you are a domestic or international applicant? Did you apply earlier than the Nov. 16th deadline? Thank you so much, & congrats! I am very antsy to hear back :)

I talked with a prof in the CS department who confirmed that they do not consider international students for Masters, only direct PhDs. Said it's too hard to fund International for Masters
