As an applicant, I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in applied social science; 3.5 GPA in both degrees. GRE: 168v; 150q; 5.0aw. 18 months of ethnographic research experience and 8+ years international work experience in my geographic area of research. I was never asked to interview. On March 10th, I received an email to check the portal and I found a polite, generic rejection letter. No information about or referral to the stand-alone Master's degree in anthropology in the department.

I'm disappointed but that's a risk we all have to take! Congrats to those getting to start PhD programs this Fall. Go get ‘em 🤎

Haven't previously studies Anthropology (BS and MS in related subjects). It was obvious I was going to be rejected after they distributed notifications for their visit weekend back in January.

Typical rejection letter. I've been in close contact with my potential adviser for the past few years so this one was a hard one to hear.

This was a long shot!

I did my undergrad there, have great grades and good relationships with several faculty. However the two who would be the best fit for a supervisor are both on sabbatical next year, so, this does make sense. I have offers from elsewhere - glad I applied to several places!

Why haven't I received my decision (probably rejection) yet?

I was told in my interview that they should be sending out results in the coming week

Accepted into the XE masters program... will turn down, nearly impossible to fund in a city with the highest cost of living

Has anyone heard anything from JHU after interview?
