For those asking, I did not receive any mail. Just checked the portal and there was a status update link which took me to the rejection letter

To the one below who just got the rejection result: Did you receive an email notification? Was it in today? I haven't received anything from NYU.

5yrs SWE, 2yrs data engineer, 4+ yrs data-related startup founder (backed by VCs), current CTO at other startup, BS in CS from outside, MS in SWE from California (GPA 3.7), one journal author, recommendations from current data scientist at Amazon, Google. SOP focused on data visualization. It was too long to see the rejection. Was not expect to admit and I already have admission at Parsons and Pratt. I think data science is not fit for me. Good luck other guys!

Could have at least given a personalized rejection, having made us wait so long. This application was a waste of time and money.

TPB: LMAO. absolutely right brother. What I don't get is that other departments at NYU are giving out results, so what is the problem with data science department. And what happened to the results coming out on and around 18 Apr, why send out email when you will not honor the commitment. I have only couple of days till I can wait for the result, otherwise I'll just go with other univ. After this is over, I would need mental health analysis.

Finally! Got a conditional offer on completing the Master of Research in Economics that I am currently pursuing.

Does anyone know if they have a new date to send out results?

Electrical and Electronics Engineering - undergrad, 1 strong LOR, e-mail to check portal, got a minor in finance and banking. Excited!

Accepted for doctoral track. 1 publication. 3 International internships.

I don't understand how it is taking so long! It is painful to wait this long especially the other schools have released offers and are waiting for our decisions. I think it is irresponsible on NYU's part to make us wait this long!

TTPB: I am still waiting too. Really annoyed.

Undergraduate GPA is cumulative. After failing my first year of undergrad, I took some time off of school, then went back to school online at a for-profit uni and got a 3.91 in Environmental Science (I also took Calc III, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and 4 Programming classes withs A's in all). After getting really into machine learning and data on my own, I was pretty dejected when I looked on here and saw the stats of everyone getting in were far better than mine. but I applied anyways after I got a good GRE score and I had internship on an ML Team (my supervisor wrote me a great LOR). I ended up getting into the DS programs for all the D.C. area schools. I hope this inspires people with less-than-stellar records to not give up and seek out the programs you desire.

It's April 20 and I have not heard back from NYU as well. Been checking for the result since April 18. They really made all of us go crazy with that estimated decision “on or around April 18”. Hope that I will be able to recover from this traumatic experience soon. JK good luck everyone!

Got waitlisted here Last Friday (17th). Can anyone tell me more about the tech scene especially the AI scene in Canada? I have decent admits from the USA: Amherst, UCSD, etc. What would be better if I get into UBC (already have admit from Waterloo DS) ?
