To the UIUC poster below; yes the email explicitly stated that we are being admitted to non thesis program since the department will not provide us funding. I guess thesis students are yet to be informed of their funding too. Have you chosen your POI?

Second Reject after University of Minnesota. Other's are likely to be the same.

For those below who have commented they were accepted into the Non-thesis program, did the email explicitly said so? I applied to thesis option and the email that I received says I was admitted but it does not say anything about thesis or non-thesis.

E-mailed by the department head that I was recommended for admission. Didn't explicitly specify thesis or non-thesis but I applied for thesis so I presuming if they don't specify it's thesis.

Applied for their PhD program but was only offered admission to their Masters program. No big deal since this was my lowest choice, and I have since received acceptances from others. Good luck to all of those who choose to attend! 2a/0w/1r with one more to go

To the people who are waiting for decision from the Mechanical Engineering program, I contacted one of the faculty and he said that decisions are not yet made and will be made soon enough.

Finally! I was getting really pessimistic about my options. I received an email from the director of graduate programs. It does not have information about funding, although it says they are reviewing funding opportunities for me. P.S. For the poster below asking about UMich, I also applied for a PhD and haven't heard back from them. I contacted them when I submitted my application and they told me that decisions are made by April 1.

Still haven't heard from Umich. Does it mean reject?

3 years Graduate Assistantship + full tuition waiver. Have to transfer to an RA after selecting a project and adviser. BTW, I'm an undergrad.

Does not make any sense, since my academic background was good.
