TTPB: Is not having funding the case even for domestic students? I know of at least one January admit that has received funding at this point, but I am still waiting myself.

I heard you should find funding by yourself, and the funding condition is really bad, especially this year. So go ask some professors for RA position as soon as possible.

Has anyone heard about funding from UNC Chapel Hill yet? I was accepted in January but still nothing about funding

Please those who do not plan to accept, decline in the fastest date possible. They are waiting to here from the first round of offers before offering other places.

TPB: Grad school application process seems pretty random and no one can tell for sure how it works out unless you are the insiders. However, I noticed that UNC is one of the few programs that explicitly explain their application criteria as far as they can in their website. They say they expect their applicants to have GRE quant scores minimum 90th percentile, which implies they might use automatic filter to just filter out low quant score candidates. I have a perfect quant and very low verbal scores and I feel that most of the schools also filter out their applicants based on GRE scores first. I have good GPAs from a competitive undergrad and grad programs in the US and strong LORs, but the programs that I thought safe rejected me and I felt like my application was never even reviewed. But it makes sense. They receive hundreds applications each year and it is just too naive for us to think they will really carefully review hundreds of application like they say "they did" in the rejection emails. They just filter out based on their own criteria to narrow down to a small number of pool of candidates and then start reviewing. GRE and GPA are the only quantitative metrics they can use to filter. But good luck to your application as they still say GRE is one of the guiding factors, not the only one and I believe your work experience is really exceptional and outstanding amongst other candidates.

My GRE quant score is 162 but I have 9 years of official work experience at Central Bank of Iran and 5 publications 2 in top journals. In the first round of acceptance I did not receive email. Do I have a chance to be admitted or waitlisted? Does anyone has idea on this.

TTPB: I emailed the office and they said we'd hear back before April 20th – uh thanks, yeah all decisions are required by April 15th. People who write these kind of idiots make me question peoples' intelligence sometimes lol

Excited about this! Waiting on NC State before I decide.

Interesting story here. First, no word from this school through February. I email them to ask for a status update and they say I will not receive an offer. So, I ask for feedback. Well, two days later I am offered a Skype interview ( I live abroad). So now I'm thinking that they've reconsidered. However, I still receive a reply to my original email chain basically saying 'we can't provide feedback, keep doing research and reapply,' with no hint that they knew I had been offered an interview. So I do the interview, it goes well, and I have a second one scheduled a week from that day. Then, the day before my second interview, I am offered admission!? However, I still proceed with the second interview and he doesn't seem to know that I'm already admitted. Overall, a very strange experience but I'm glad to be considered!

Has anyone heard back from them? Also, when is the decision usually released?
