Cool!

Honestly, how hard is it for a Writing Department to write a decent denial letter? While it's highly likely I'll need to reapply to programs next year, it's a certainty I'll not be reapplying here. Your communications reflect your program's personality, people, and yours screams Soulless Robot.

Received an email last night, notifying me to check the website. After reading all the previous posts, I knew an email from Amherst wasn't a good news. And yes. A rejection. BTW, like some people below, I do not resent Umass for rejecting me, but I do feel "cheap" because of this email. I have another rejection letter already, and the letter from another grad school is sincere and polite. Oh, and my last name begins with "Z"

Maybe they thought I was already too advanced to benefit from their program :D

Wasn't given a ranking or anything (was anyone else?). Email said there were "almost 100 applicants".

Awesome program

Email to check website. Very short decision letter waiting for me. On a happier note: Congratulations to those who received the acceptance phone call! It seems like a great program, and I hope you enjoy your time there!

**INSERT excuse highlighting the program and/or faculty's problems to make myself feel better about not being accepted....Which makes you wonder why I applied in the first place if I have only bad things to say.**

Curse this sudden but inevitable rejection.

Congrats to all who got in! My decision letter was posted on the website. Still waiting to hear from 4 other schools and praying to God for good news. Best of luck everyone and no matter what, keep writing and perfecting your craft! (2a/1r/0w)
