Rejected due to enrollment limitations!

This is the second time i apply. Last time I only got 2 MS offer. This time I have better offer, so I turn Purdue down. It's been tough, and I deeply understand the anxiety in those who are desperate to move forward as PhD candidates but still have no offer. This time I hope my vacancy can help one of you, and I believe all of you who are and were in the waitlist or rejected the best in your journey of life.

Not heard back from UPenn at all. Has anyone heard back from UPenn, Penn State, USC, NYU, UT Austin, Columbia, or UMD? Cosmology, hep-th.

3.8 Masters GPA, no GRE, no publications, 2 academic talks

The professor told me that they gave offers during the week of Feb 10. Because I had already accepted an offer from another place, they changed my status to ‘denied,’ or I could also get an offer.

Got a master’s offer. Not surprising because the quota of PhD program at SBU should be minimal (probably only 10 students per year?), and I heard that only a few MS students who get very high GPAs during their master’s can get into the PhD program (some of the professors also complain that they don’t understand the admission process because students who are highly qualified for PhD programs can only be admitted into a Ms program and pay for their study and fight for an uncertain future). I’m not sure how difficult to get a master offer from SBU but this might not be a good choice if you can also get an offer from Brown, because Brown is an ivy league school and there should be more possibilities to get into PhD program there (I’m not sure). Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Expected to hear 4-6 weeks after deadline (end of December), but heard back today. Generic rejection email from Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Operations before portal updated.

Rejected from PhD program, offered spot in Masters program (no funding)
