To the poster below: I'm also on the wait list and have heard nothing. Tried to get an indication of my rank and size of list but they didn't divulge any details.

Well, I guess that's it then. 14 applied and 14 rejected! But to be quite honest, I feel that this is probably the best thing that could have happened to me since I just recieved my BA and have a world of possibilities at my fingertips. Congratz to all that made it! And to those that didn't this time around: please remember you can, make your own way into the writing career you want- we don't need to get MFAs to be a successful writer!!

Reply to poster below. I know someone who works there. She said that sometimes they come out as late as early April.

Thank you for applying to the MFA@FLA. Our teaching faculty is grateful for your application and for the opportunity to read your work. We regret that we will not be able to offer you a place in our program. As you perhaps know, our program is relatively small and admission quite competitive. (Between 5% and 10% of applicants in poetry are admitted; in fiction between 2% and 3%.) We try to accept writers whose work is best suited to the strengths and interests of our particular faculty. These are the candidates we feel we can best work with, who will best profit from what we as individuals can teach. It is a difficult process, this selecting, one that makes us decline the candidacy of accomplished and unaccomplished writers alike, and it does not confer a negative judgment upon the work of those whom we cannot admit. We hope you can locate a program that feels it can speak to your strengths as a writer, and we wish you the best with your creative work.

To poster below: they told me the same thing last week: "strong consideration." I pictured muscles being overexerted and twisted. It must be some sort of an informal waitlist behind the formal waitlist. Ha. Ha. Ha.

I emailed the coordinator and he told me. I wasn't surprised, but it was nice to dream. rn1a/0w/2r (I am assuming Irvine leaving me in the dark means they have rejected me)
