2+ yrs full time research

Received a Master's from the UO in Applied Physics. GPA is from my Master's. Received recommendations from Directors in the Department, the Professor I did my Master's research with, a Nobel Laureate, and even the Professor that handles the applications. I even scored higher than 70% of their current PhD students in all my Physics courses. The only thing that I can think of that killed it was my GRE. Americans are so obsessed with the GRE as an aptitude test. A proven record of success as a grad student wasn't enough. I guess they don't want me because I can't take a standardised test. Oh well, got into the PhD Programme at UToronto (where they don't care about GREs).

Have not yet received any information about funding, and haven't gotten any snail mail from the school.

So happy to be waitlisted! This is my top choice, so please let Diana know if you will be accepting elsewhere. Congrats to everyone who got accepted to all of their graduate programs!

For people that were waitlisted.. did they specify a tier you were in (I.e. tier 1 waitlist) or just simply state “waitlist”?

I also got an email today morning and they said I am on the waitlist for funding.

Got an update to the accepted status by email that they are unable to fund me so far, so I am waitlisted for funding:/ Seriously? How can it be that admitted PhDs don't get funded? I doubt anyone accepts non-funded offers.
