- Received a Master's from the UO in Applied Physics. GPA is from my Master's. Received recommendations from Directors in the Department, the Professor I did my Master's research with, a Nobel Laureate, and even the Professor that handles the applications. I even scored higher than 70% of their current PhD students in all my Physics courses. The only thing that I can think of that killed it was my GRE. Americans are so obsessed with the GRE as an aptitude test. A proven record of success as a grad student wasn't enough. I guess they don't want me because I can't take a standardised test. Oh well, got into the PhD Programme at UToronto (where they don't care about GREs).
