Just received an email stating that I should have received an email a few weeks ago indicating that I was on a waitlist (I did not receive this) and was told due to the hiring freeze my application has been denied.

Rejects after Rejects. I guess I made some mistakes trusting people!

TPB: The freeze is for the whole university. According to the email. Here's what Prof. Hansen's email said: Thank you for your patience. I wrote a few weeks ago explaining that we would be making additional offers. I'm writing today with an update on that. The University of Oregon instituted a hiring freeze campus wide this last week. As we sought out clarification, we were told this also applies to GE offers for graduate students. So while it had been my expectation to make more GE offers, unfortunately right now I am unable to do so. It is a rapidly changing environment and we get new information every day, so it might still be possible this could change in the next two weeks depending on undergraduate enrollments for the fall. I'll let you know if and when I get more information. I appreciate your sincere interest in our graduate program and I'm sorry to not have better news at this time. I wish the best of success in your pursuits of a PHD as you consider your other options. Benjamin Hansen

This one hurt. My dad's college roommate is on the graduate committee.

Has anyone here got reject form UO CS PhD program yet? Why haven't they still given out all the results?

TPB: Is this hiring freeze just for the econ. department or the entire university. Also is it because of the Corona outbreak?

TPB: Got an email from Prof. Ben Hansen today staying that there's a hiring freeze and that he'd update if there's any change. No more offers for now I guess. Unlikely that this will be reversed.

Just heard about admission decision after long long time of waiting. Still waiting to hear about funding decision.

Has anyone waitlisted for funding received an update? Thanks!

Is there a Facebook group made yet? Very excited!!

TTPB: I received the offer from UO at the end of January. My area is HPC. I got a better offer already, so I just decline the offer from UO 2 days ago. Good luck to anyone in the waitlist .
