just checked the website, no letter but it says admitted

Submitted application before the November deadline (over four months ago). My advisor request form response was positive and indicated that multiple faculty members were interested in my work. Heard nothing for months. I emailed last week asking for an update and was told that “admissions decisions are a bit more delayed than usual this cycle.” Shortly after that email, I received a rejection via the portal. A bit of a frustrating process.

I got an email from the PI that I was supposed to be working with. She told me I was not picked for the first round despite being very qualified, and the funding situation doesn't help either. The PI mentioned I might get an offer around spring, depending on the number of extra students that might be chosen, but I feel it's unlikely.
