Emailed to check the website. No word of funding. Has anybody heard of the funding?

[Not WL] TPB: I'm sorry you got rejected. But to be honest, admissions really shouldn't be about whether you worked with a guy who knows the "most important guy" at a place.

I guess this year one of the letter writers' personally knowing the most important guy at that institution doesn't help at all. Received an email like this, after asking about the status of my application. It is crazy that 11/15 accepted the offer: "Dear XY, I am sorry to say that we will not be able to give an offer to you. This year's admission has been different from all other years. 11 applicants in the first round accepted their offer and left no room for second round offers except for a very few numbers. I am sorry to bring this news, but I am also happy you have other offers and can then only wish you the best of luck in your future studies."

Has anybody heard about the outcome of acceptance, rejection, interview, etc? They told me they will announce it by the end of last week.

Most of all, thank you very much for applying for PhD in Economics program at Utah State University. I have received the graduate applicants review results from the committee. Unfortunately, I found that your name is not on the short list (a list of selected applicants from which a final choice is made). As you probably know, we look at each application a whole. Admissions decisions are based on a composite of information including your previous academic performance with GPA, comments/recommendation from referees, relevant professional activities, proposed research statements, and GRE scores. The number of applications we received this year far exceeded the number of students we are able to accept, and so we had to make very difficult admissions decisions. Each application is considered in relation to other applications in the same area and only the very top applicants are admitted. Your application, considered as a whole, was not as strong as some of the others in the short list. You are considered as “admit if self-funded” category. Before making the final decision, I am wondering if you may come to USU with your fund. Please note that I am not sure if you may have a chance to be funded in the future. Please respond in a reply email if you want to be admitted. If I do not hear from you by this Friday (April 2), your name will be moved to “not admitted” category.

Very sad, randomly check the portal and found the decision letter sitting there couple of days already. Never receiving a notification. Anyway, big congrats to all accepted.

No interview, got an email from the committee that I am on the Waitlist. Everyone please decline the offers if you already have dominating ones.

Waitlisted after interview without 'top of the list' wording. I am thinking whether interview is a signal for more likely to be accepted or not as they sent a second round of waitlist without interview. It can be the case that interview is a signal that they are more interested in me and hence higher probability. Or I am on the margin and need further consideration. Sent an email to JF H weeks ago regarding my position on the waitlist and chance of admission and got no reply. Might be an implicit way of saying that I am not likely. Will send an email next week and see how things go. Anyone in the same boat or have any information or thoughts on this?

I am also one of the person who got "high on waitlist" email and on the morning of the visit day, I got another email saying I am in their waitlist's top-5 and there is a "very high likelihood" to get an offer next week. JF said the same thing during the visit day that he will be sending another round of offer next week.
