Graduate School Admission Results

April 29, 2008: Still absolutely nothing from Brandeis. I have called and e-mailed multiple times since the beginning of March, and the best answer I got was "you should receive notification soon." I finally gave up waiting and accepted another offer yesterday. What gives? Oh well.

Totally fine with me, as it was a backup school. I've been accepted by much more reputable programs.

To the most recent Maryland poster, did your status on the website just change today? Mine still says pending. I wonder if this is a good or bad sign?

Well, I'm glad the other poster has other lucrative offers to consider. This was was top choice, and I'm devastated. If you haven't been rejected yet, it is probably a good sign.

Have already called a million times and left two messages. The grad secretary never picks up the phone, or returns messages. Nice operation.

I've spoken to the grad secretary a couple of times over the last month or so - I never left messages, just kept calling back until I was able to reach her. The answer I got was that the dept was still reviewing apps carefully to ensure no one slipped through the cracks. Last time I spoke w/ her was Friday 3/14, and she said the campus was on Spring Break all last week. I'm hoping this week brings some news.

Seriously Maryland, what is the deal? I've heard from every other program weeks ago.

Completely agree with the other MD poster below. What is up w/ them?? This is getting ridiculous--just make your final decisions and put me out of my misery already!

Anyone gotten up the guts to call UMD yet? It seems like their decisions went out late last year as well.

Official rejection...I still had a lingering hope that maybe I was waitlisted or something, haha. Offered unfunded M.A. instead:(

Yeah! With 25k annual stipend.

With work included, 15k annual stipend.

The the Princeton dude/dudette -- I was told that the committee will be finalizing decisions by the end of this week. I don't know which is worse, all this waiting or being rejected. I'm beginning to think that the waiting is worse.

I've gotten into better schools, but no place with equally delightful weather.

Emailed by director of grad studies on 2/20/08 asking for time to talk over the phone.

No funding. What a tease!

I just called the department secretary, and she said they aren't releasing admits until next week.
