rejected a second year in a row.... disappointing

IGNORE WAITLIST. Should I be worried that I haven't received a decision and my application is still at the pre-screen stage? I applied back in January and am starting to lose hope. Do you think acceptance is still possible?

Emailed for status update. If you have not been WL/Accepted/Rejected, it means they are keeping you on "standby" in case they run out of people on the waitlist. So basically, a waitlist for the waitlist. Huh.

Domain: NLP Cold-mailed a professor, surprisingly got a mail for an interview! Wish me luck!

I had a short time to respond to the offer (about seven to ten days), which was exceptional. I received an award of 5,000 about a month later via an email from the department. This amount increased to 7,000 about a month later. Also, pay attention to the fact that although the deadline to apply for the program is pretty late (March 15th), the admission takes place on a rolling basis. Therefore, keep in mind to apply as soon as possible if you have made your mind about it.
