Graduate School Admission Results

Received an email saying I’m a finalist for a nonfiction spot at OSU. Still excited even though it’s not an acceptance! my top school by a long shot.

Not a ton of publication / writing experience, just wanted to see what would happen if I went for it this season! So, not super surprised. Received a standard rejection email from the department head. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! 0a/2r/0w/3p

knew this one was coming after seeing the facebook draft spreadsheet notifs. 3 schools left "The MFA admissions committee has finished reviewing applications, and I’m very sorry to inform you that we are not able to offer you a spot at Oregon State University for Fall 2025. The competition is always fierce, and we can never admit as many students as we would like. A second, automated email will arrive in the next day or two from the OSU Graduate School. We wish you all the best and thank you for your interest in our program."

This was a very difficult decision, since we received hundreds of applications for very few places in the program. We had to turn down a number of very talented people with very impressive records, many of whom no doubt will go on to distinguished careers. Email to check portal. I think the same form rejection used as last year. As there was no contact before I was notified of a portal update, I expected this rejection. Unfortunately, I also really wanted to go to this school. Congrats to those who got in! 1a/4r/17p

Email to check portal. Poems in several top litmags, connections to the program, but also turning 40, only science degrees, etc. Congrats to the new cohort.

Got the acceptance call today! With the official offer to come over email next week. Interview was Jan 30th.
