- Heads up to all (especially European) PhD hopefuls who see this in the future - Only apply to a US PhD if you did a Predoc. Had chats with multiple professors who know both sides of the lake and a predoc is pretty much a requirement now. Safe yourself the fees - I wish I'd have gotten this advice before spending hundreds of bucks (I got rejections from all US places, but accept from 4 good European schools, 2 pending, so I guess there is defo truth). A thesis is NOT a replacement apparently...
