- Exactly what the post below says... think about what the 34 standing offers are: 1) top candidates from wl that just get offered, and very likely to accept(if the posting yesterday was real) 2)ppl who are waitlisted by better schools, which I think is the majority among 34, and most of those will accept since i don't think there's a lot of room in better schools 3)ppl who are debating with offers with other schools or the a-holes who have dominating offers and still have not rejected, those ppl are the ones that will reject and make space. Ppl on waitlist will get offer only if subset 3 has more than 14 ppl. So yeah, sorry for this pessimistic analysis. I am on the same boat and I do want to get off the waitlist as you guys, but I do think this is what it is.
