The following complaints are neither rational nor unbiased, but are definitely ad hominem: For several years, S.K. has never found time (or interest, or whatever) to react upon any of my attempts to reach her, no matter if my identity was a prospective student or a colleague. As the chair of the department, perhaps she thinks she has already been elevated to a position so sublime as to justify her coldness to any lowly member of the species. Or perhaps she wants to save her energy for her sweet partner instead. Anyway I have already had other (and perhaps better) offers elsewhere, but someone as intolerant as I is not a good fit for Brown for sure, even if the chair is a Straussian. -- I should have known this before the application season, so shame on me!
