  • Five years teaching full time, two "Best in Category" international drawing competitions, and I'm a licensed architect. For an institution that still values the art of drawing I'm surprised and disappointed. Congrats to those accepted :/ Nothing motivates me more than being underestimated!

  • Thank you for your letter, and I am sorry to not get in touch with you earlier. This year we have had nearly 100 applications for what has turned out to be 7 incoming Ph.D. students for Fall 2014. Although we made an initial round of offers in early March, that first set of offers has just been closed. You were among our second group for consideration for offers, but in this very competitive year, we unfortunately will not be able to make an offer to you. I simply don't understand why they don't inform the applicants about the decisions even after paying the application fee. I had to ask 'em about it!

  • Mediocre undergrad GPA from same university, unrelated major. Asked to retake GRE during application process. I assume the decision was largely based on my portfolio and enthusiasm for design. Unofficially accepted via e-mail from grad director April 2nd; letter uploaded to portal April 15th.
