  • to the poster below, this is what they told me about financial assistance from year 2 onwards (there no option of aid for the first year): "Please do note that once you are in the program and pass the microeconomic and macroeconomic qualifying examinations (after you finish your first year of course work), and are in good standing, you can apply for a teaching assistantship going into your second year. These are awarded to continuing students on a merit basis for up to three years. Moreover, students who pass the qualifying exams after their first year generally have a very good chance of obtaining such aid. Additionally, while the qualifying examination pass rate is variable from year to year, it is often the case that 75% or more students pass the exams on the first attempt."
