Technology & Policy Program (TPP), Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) Low GPA from a top school, three years unrelated research, two years Peace Corps. Proposed a pretty dramatic shift from my undergrad topics to focus on food security, trying again next year. Congrats to everyone who made it!

Technology And Policy Program (TPP), Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) Seems like their rejection email is the same as last year saying "competition for admission was particularly keen this year." Pretty disappointed to be rejected from MIT 3 times this application cycle :') but hopefully everything will work out for me and anyone else in the same boat!

Social And Engineering Systems (SES), Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) Previously got an email Feb 26th saying no decision had yet been made; did not interview. Still in the TPP pool with results there expected around March 15th. Interested in renewable energy/power systems, which seems to be a less popular topic in IDSS overall.

Social And Engineering Systems (SES), Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) For all of you who got rejected, do you think that getting rejected by SES would hurt our chances of getting in the TPP program? Also, if you got admitted TPP would you accept their offer?

Dear (NAME): The committees reviewing applications for admission to the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) were delighted to receive so many thoughtful and carefully prepared applications from talented individuals like you. While application reviews are continuing, at this point I am able to share a partial update on your application status. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to the SES doctoral program for the 2021/2022 academic year. Please note that, per your request in the SES application, your application is also part of the Technology and Policy Program applicant pool, whose reviews are still in process. TPP admissions decisions are expected around 15 March. As you might expect, resources constrain the number of qualified applicants that we can accept, and I am sorry that we were unable to offer you a place in the SES PhD program.
