Criminal Justice, CUNY - John Jay College Of Criminal Justice Cannot find the appropriate forum for my concerns so I am posting it here: Alumni of John Jay Masters program and received high recommendations from John Jay CJ Masters program staff and I was not even given an interview. I received my general and impersonal rejection via email. I tried contacting the Ph.D. admissions faculty numerous times to get a breakdown as to why I was rejected (without an interview) with a cumulative Masters program GPA of 3.95 and being a John Jay Masters alumni with hopes of trying to improve my application in order to re-apply for the Fall 2015 admissions and not a single admissions member responded to me. And then it became quite clear, the only aspect of my application that was not significantly above average were my GRE scores and after seeing the posts on this website and doing thorough research by speaking to several applicants, it is quite apparent that due to the high volume of applications that the CUNY - John Jay program receives, the admissions staff filters their applications and reviews the GRE scores first so that they do not have to look any further at the applicants application, which is exactly the opposite of the policy disclaimer on their website. The CUNY John Jay Doctoral program in Criminal Justice clearly states that their admissions board gives EVERY application a thorough and equal review from start to finish, regardless of GRE test scores. This is not only disconcerting but illegal. I work for a law firm as a paralegal and was told by numerous attorneys that I should file a law suit against CUNY due to the overwhelming evidence of application discrimination by the admissions committee of the Doctoral Program for CUNY. If anyone has had a similar experience, please feel free to PM me so we can come together and stand up against the clear and apparent discrimination of the CUNY doctoral admissions board.
