Offered a funded MS through the ECT; declined

My only application in the US. Applied to work with a professor at SCGP. I have a master's degree from an European country, one published paper (gr-qc), and another recently submitted to arXiv (hep-th). At least I didn't have to pay the $100 application fee—got a fee waiver as a student from LatAm.

Got a master’s offer. Not surprising because the quota of PhD program at SBU should be minimal (probably only 10 students per year?), and I heard that only a few MS students who get very high GPAs during their master’s can get into the PhD program (some of the professors also complain that they don’t understand the admission process because students who are highly qualified for PhD programs can only be admitted into a Ms program and pay for their study and fight for an uncertain future). I’m not sure how difficult to get a master offer from SBU but this might not be a good choice if you can also get an offer from Brown, because Brown is an ivy league school and there should be more possibilities to get into PhD program there (I’m not sure). Anyway, good luck to everyone!

3 years of research experience, one first-author publication, one second-author publication, and an REU at SB. No MS offer, generic email rejection.

Rejection to PhD, but offered to Master program. CMT. No GRE/sGRE. 1 preprint, 3 years of CMX research, 6 months of CMT research. No interview. GPA: 4.05/4.3 = 3.77/4.0.

AMO ex

Was emailed to check portal. Rejected but offered a spot in their MA program. 4 research experiences and one publication coming down the road later this year. Would be a part of their Astro.
