No notification, just saw status update when I randomly checked portal

Portal changed, no email.

Got the waitlist at early March. If you have better offers, please please decline asap. This is my top choice.

Direct admit from supervisor whom I have indicated interest on the portal but no previous contacts. Columbia is on a rolling basis so if you haven't heard back in April like me its most likely someone holding on to your file while waiting for funding so don't give up!

It took their LOVELY 120+ DAYS to release the final rejection outcome - no interview invitation, no waitlist notification, and they would never confirm whether your application is under waitlist consideration - only endless bureaucratic delay. You spent the most expensive $115 application fees (in humanities field) to experience NYU GSAS's notorious administrative dysfunction:) Bravo!

International students, I'd advise you to steer clear of this programme unless you happen to be from one specific country; if you haven't already, check their student profile page to see which one. It’s blindingly obvious they don't admit anyone else. The whole thing is a complete joke. My research interests aligned very closely with several professors there, all of whom were raving about my profile when I reached out. I have a consistent record of publishing as first author (with at most one co-author) in the field's leading journals. Fortunately, I’ve already secured offers from two Ivy League schools and other top-tier institutions. However, what this department is doing simply isn't right, and a thorough investigation is long overdue. My Profile: Bachelor’s GPA: 3.96, Master’s GPA: 4.00, Publications: 5 research articles, Conference Presentations: 2 AEJMC and 2 NCA.

They were absolutely the weirdest school when it came to communication. Up until early April, I hadn’t heard anything from them, and whenever I reached out, they kept saying they were still reviewing my application. I found their communication extremely inconsiderate. If they had already finalized their admitted cohort and waitlist, as I later learned from a reply on this platform, they should have just sent out the official rejections instead of leaving applicants hanging. Luckily, I was accepted into a great program, but it was still frustrating that their delay forced me to postpone my final decision. :(

Would not recommend applying to NYU unless you'd enjoy 4+ months of radio silence and a perfunctory rejection letter
