Submitted two weeks after application was open, since admission was rolling-based there could be more bias for earlier applications. Later learned that the spring 2026 cohort was about 50 people, and also the last time the program will have a spring cohort.

BSc in Artificial Intelligence from European university, GPA 3.6/4 + Exchange in USA, 1 research internship, 1 applied internship, 1 paper (thesis), startup founder with 300k year revenue, 2 Teaching Assistant positions. Mandatory video interview done 04/09/2026 - still waiting on decision

Anyone heard back from UBC SBME PhD yet?

International applicant, applied in December and was in waitlist for nearly 6 months only to get rejected. In the interim followed up with the department twice regarding my decision because time is running so short to begin applying for a student visa. My respect goes out to all international students that make it in this program given the wait times during every step of the way.

TBH I thought I did terrible during the interview but ig not. Also was really confused when they sent out interview invitations to begin with since they don’t mention it as part of the application process. LETS GOOOO.

They don't have a waitlist, they have a shortlist and if you don't hear back by mid-march, I'd expect that you are on that. C'est la vie and good luck!

Finally got in! It's unbelievable. Had an interview in early Feb. Waitlisted for 2 weeks and then accepted!

Did MS in columbia still got rejected.

Secured a supervisor before applying.
