hep-th, 970 applications for 45 positions... UCB was my dream school, however I am grateful for the given offers and should move on.

Have any hep people been admitted yet?

0 for 8 on top 20 schools, only have one left to hear back from.

Just got the rejection email. Totally expected, esp with my low pGRE.

Just got an email from the graduate advisor that the final decisions will be made by the end of the week. =)

Nearly every top school physics program has Indian origin faculty members who did their undergrad from my school (IITK) which makes it a reputed one. If you have a fair academic record, you're in. Expected.

Rejected from Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell. Accepted in UCSD only. It really hurts. I tried my best but luck didn't smile. Maybe I dreamt too high or just unfortunate.

HEP-ex, had a skype conversation with a PI which went very well and even met another one in person. Surprisingly, all the places where I had good contact with PI(s) have rejected me and vice-versa. Anyway, already have better offers.

To questioner about Berkeley admit status on website: No, status is not reflected on the website; it still just says "Submitted". This is actually the case for my application for last year too which I just checked.
