I've been waitlisted for a few weeks now. If you'll be attending elsewhere please notify them :)

To the U.A. poster below, I feel your pain. I was informed in early March that my app was referred to the department for review. No word since, even after e-mailing the program director. Anything can happen, still, I guess, but I doubt they would wait this long to get in touch if they wanted me. Onward and upward.

Rejected from 11 top, fully-funded schools and done for my first season. It's a terribly hard industry, and I'll tell you what I tell my students: rejection has happened (and will continue to happen) to (almost) anybody who was ever been anybody. Hell, Harper Lee received her biggest rejection just before she died from a lot of her own fans, and nearly every critic who had just prior sung her praises. If there are any slightly younger writers wrapping up their B.A. degree with nowhere to go next year, this industry might take you time, but you can do it. I have spent 4 years as a public school teacher at a Title 1 school placed by Teach for America, and I'm a graduate of UC Berkeley and former Daily Californian journalist. Sometimes it still doesn't add up and as a writer you just have to try another way. And I'm advising myself, here, too. (Sorry for how long this got.)

Received an email and letter. Told I would hear back, likely after April 15th.

Anyone heard about any movement on the Tennessee waitlist?

Received an email that there was an update on my account. It was a rejection, of course. It was during AWP--such a bummer to find out during a writers conference--totally generic letter.

Received a nice email.... I think they act like they want everyone they reject. Maybe that's nice?

Received an email notification saying a decision had been made on my account. The email was for all PhD applicants--not creative writing specifically. It was the most generic, least personal rejection system of any I have ever seen. In all it was incredibly tacky.

Was sent a notification that there was an update--finally, as the application was due in December. The update was strangely on April first... Bad day... The letter was a forum letter and it was sort of rude.

Have any other Houston acceptees still not received formal funding info? My last contact with them was when I was accepted informally over the phone on the 22nd, and I am getting concerned.

Got an email to log-in and check results. Expected it at this point.
