Had an interview with graduate director today. At the end of the interview, the director told me I will be admitted to the program and the offer letter will be sent shortly. 3.71 GPA, no GRE, 2 publications, 1 first-author paper, 2 conference presentations, 4 TA positions over the past two years and 3 years of total research experience. Also planning on graduating with a master\'s degree at the end of the year with a current GPA of 3.85.

Email to check portal. The status on my portal disappeared about a day before getting accepted. There was no info about funding initially, but later I got an email from the chair informing me about the School of Engineering Fellowship. Everybody who gets admitted to the Ph.D. program at Tandon gets this fellowship.

Seems like a soft way to reject. They did the same last year too. Has anyone received similar waitlist mail?

Ignore the waitlist. Has anyone (international) heard back from Caltech? And is it a reject if I haven't already got an interview invite?

More than 2 years of undergrad research experience (my major is Materials Science from FUM, Iran), 1 publication in preparation during the application process and 1 poster presentation, 2 interdisciplinary internships attended, last two-year GPA was 3.95, TOEFL score was 116, no POI named on my SOP (focused on research interests).
