"Update UMD Physics Graduate Student Application Inbox Donna Hammer 12:18 PM (18 minutes ago) to Dear Prospective Graduate Students, You are receiving this message because you applied to Maryland's Ph.D. program. Our admissions process is ongoing but nearly complete. We may make a few more offers of admission. These offers would be due to unusual circumstances, which prevented us from making a timely decision. As a matter of practice we prefer not to send rejection letters until the very end of the process, since circumstances can change (such as additional funding sources identified), and we may be able to make a handful of last minute offers. However, if we have not contacted you making an offer, we are unlikely to make one. Sincerely, Tom Cohen Donna Hammer Director of Education Department of Physics University of Maryland College Park, MD 20742"

Anyone else get an ambiguous email from UMD? Like, neither an acceptance nor a rejection, just out of the blue? Along the lines 'further acceptances only under exceptional circumstances' and 'if you haven't received an email already, then it's unlikely you'll get a positive response'? I applied to hep-th. What does this email mean?

Recieved email that said all acceptanced and waitlists have gone out. Bit sad, thought I might have a chance.

Email notification that decision has been made. Acceptance on portal; no offer letter yet.
