official confirmation of admission from POI. field: ml + scientific computing.

Got accepted with Graduate Fellowship! Area - KB/NLP

TTPB: thanks for sharing all the details! In the past some people have been admitted without interview, but it sounds like this year interviews are necessary then?

TTPB: About the timeline, one faculty member my friend got interviewed said it will come out early next week About the stat, my friend also mentioned that it's in the final stage of interviews. Around 18-20% people have made it to the final round and 5% people will get an offer, which means if you get to the interview stage, you have 28-30% chance of getting in. I transformed the specific numbers I heard into ratios so the numbers should be reliable. That's all I can tell for now :)

Just had an interview with professor who is not in my application list. He said he is a representative of the committee to interview me. Asked 8-9 very general questions, 20 mins in total. Will have another interview with PI I'm interested in tomorrow. Here are the questions: why do you peruse a PhD degree in CS? What is your plan in the program and what is your plan after graduation? Do you have relevant research experience and do you have any interactions with ang faculties in the program? What CS technic do you have? Which CS concepts are most interesting to you, and which courses are most interesting to you? Do you have any TA experience? What CS courses did you take and which is the most challenging to you? Which courses you would like to be a TA? Hope it helps

To the phd admit post on gradcafe, which program (CS or EECS) did you apply to?

Received an email to my portal, no wording on funding/TA positions though so I need to figure that out if I have any hope of living in San Diego haha

Guys, should I start preparing for Fall 2022 applications?

TTPB: Congratulations, what time did you receive the email? Was it really this early in the morning? It's 7 am in California.

TTPB: when did you get the email? What's your area?

TtpbGot that email too. Doesn't imply acceptance. It's just promotion.

Email to check updated status. Official admission. Financial status will be reported by department later.

Any information on invitation or acceptance for Machine Learning Department? CMU-ML Ph.D. any invitations?

Does CMU MLD do interviews for shortlisted candidates? Can't see any posts on this forum.
