TTPB: Could you share which faculty you had the NLP interview with?

Area: ML Theory and Computer Vision. I'm kind of surprised as I had no interview and didn't reach out to POIs. Official offer was in a pdf attached in the email.

Are you guys all taking about SS?

Just got the official email from the department. No interview. MyStatus also updated to "Admitted".

TTBP: At Georgia Institute of Technology, did you apply for PhD CS or CSE?

Following up on the UCSD CS interview posts: I looked at the interview updates of UCSD CS on this site this year and 2/3 of the posts mentions a coding assignment. I am assuming it's all from the same lab as coding assignments for PhDs are very rare. Is it because this POI interviewed way too many applicants, or many other POIs in UCSD CS actually don't do interviews?

TTPB: My track is computer systems. I also got an coding assignment and then an interview latter. I think it is indeed the same lab. It seems the prof is interviewing anywhere between 10-20 people.

I understand your pain. Just see rejections as a way to improve upon yourself. Maybe get some publications next time when you apply.

I am so done with this grad admission process. Just kill me.

To those flexing their publications. This tells us nothing about the strength of your profile. Publications and a dime a dozen these days, good publications are not. If you really wanted to signal the strength of your profile the most helpful thing would be to mention who your recommenders are. But nobody is gonna do that on an online anonymous toxic forum, are they?
