TTPB (LTI): Why would you even apply to MLT when you're already wrapping up an MSCS program?

Non CS Undergrad. Currently in a MSCS program in California State Univ. with 4.0 GPA. Have taken 6 courses in AI/ML with As. No pubs yet. Doing MS thesis in AI.

Low income student, went to state school because it was my only option financially. Won my university's undergrad CS prize, 5 pubs in mid-tier AI conferences (3 first author), and graduated summa cum laude. My letter writers were probably not "prestigious" enough? Not sure. Not sure what else I could have done given the opportunities available to me...

5 papers and 2 posters. international, FLI student. area: HCI. academia is a place only for the privileged kids.
