Received an email from Harvard GSAS telling me to check the application portal for a status update regarding my application. It was a rejection. Research Area: ML 3 LORs from faculty members (2 of the letters are strong), a well-written and strong SOP, 2 publications

Track: Theory.

No interview. Received an email to look at the portal.

TTPB: It's still top 30... I wouldn't consider that "low ranked". For someone who didn't want to go there you seem awfully bitter about getting rejected. Perhaps they detected your pretentiousness....

TTPB: I am the one who got accepted. Undergrad from a top 10 institute from India, 9.4+ GPA, multiple publications, and research experience at top lab.

Received an email regarding visa saying I'm accepted. Doesn't look like an official acceptance letter though. Did any other international master's applicants receive such an email?

(I'm the original rejected post) TTPB: I only applied as a safety. This was my lowest ranked safety by far (the next one up is USC at ~rank 20). Thoght this one would be an automatic admit but looks like their admissions have the immature mentality of "reject the candidate before they reject us" like many other low ranked CS schools have.

I wanted to know if anyone has heard from CMU for CS PhD programs. I know that Robotics sent the results a while back. My target area is Systems.

*Did not receive any decision yet; Does anyone have an idea when MS admits will come around? Also, how will applications be affected given deferrals?

TTPB: May be that is why they rejected you, Because they saw that you do NOT need it!!! thought that point of view might be useful

TTPB: Why would you waste money on an application fee if you had zero intention of even considering an offer? There are many people here who would benefit from this program, becoming stronger applicants in the job market afterwards. I find it unnecessary to criticize a program simply because you were not admitted. I wish you the best with the rest of your applications - good luck.

Rejected from the cash cow professional CS program. Did my undergrad at a way higher ranked university in CS (Top 10 USNews). What a complete joke. Never would have gone even if they accepted me since it would only weaken my resume.

To the NCSU poster below for PhD, sorry to hear that. Could you please tell when did you receive the mail?
